"The Introverted Sensation Type"
IS (Si)
Introduction
The Subconscious Sensation Type (or Introverted Sensation Type) can be found in the world of accepted reality values, making their life essentially depend on whether they are provided with enough physical, material resources to keep on living without having to make any compromises in their own lifestyle. This makes them usually quite indifferent to anything that happens in the world politically as long as they don't apprehend a sense of danger in terms of change for their own subjective sense of reality. This gives many of them quite conservative standpoints, because their primary concerns revolve around the satisfaction of their personal material and safety needs.
They are very physical individuals, perceiving the world through concrete and simple processes while avoiding intuitive abstractions. This makes them well suited for handling both physical labor and routine work, as they do not require much change in any given process. Regarding physical objects, on the other hand, they can get quite excited about the potential and usefulness these can hold. When it comes to other people, they can easily provide them with material stability and a consistent output of work or care, if not egocentric. Regarding their own material needs, they are extremely uncompromising and almost impossible to persuade away from, which in the grand scheme of things, however, often has destructive influences on their external or political environment, often out of sheer indifference and a lack of a feeling of personal responsibility for external circumstances. Their social behaviour ranges from silent and passive to loud and physically imposing, depending on the individual. Many workers of essential routine jobs or physical labor, craftspersons, but also many hedonists can be found in the Introverted Sensation Type.
The Shadow Side
Their inferior extraverted Intuition (Ne) either shows as an extreme sense of vague, blurry, sordid and dangerous possibilities hiding in other people, abstract situations and events or as an obliviousness to how their own actions and decisions influence their future life, other people or their external environment in more abstract ways. However, these possibilities, since they are only perceived in a blurry way, usually have no truth factor whatsoever - in contrast to the extraverted intuition type, which has a good sense for objective, true possibilities. This apprehension of negative possibilities can make them fall into paranoid, panicky and hysterical patterns of behaviour that can ultimately lead to exhaustion. They are also not very proficient at evaluating the potential and inner life of other people and might come to subjective conclusions that are mostly based on concretely perceivable circumstances or aesthetics – usually no better are they at understanding their own psychological processes.
There exists ironically however also the possibility that they get so excited about new opportunities and ideas that they enthusiastically jump at them without any further considerations, as they believe to get some immediate form of reward out of it. Yes, their compulsive dependency on specific, spontaneous ideas and their desire to dominate this perceived possibility can make them appear most forceful and proactive in the most inadequate situations, possibly leading them into unexpected conflicts with the circumstances they themselves created. Some, but not all, due to their low intuition, are also drawn towards supernatural phenomena as these act as more tangible replacements for a higher form of intuitive understanding about the world.
